Time for Action

You’ve heard the stories and the statistics. You’re impassioned, shocked, heartbroken and maybe even angered. Most of all you’re inspired to take action. You don’t want to just talk about it; you want to do something about it.

We hear you.

There are several practical ways to join the Not Abandoned team as a volunteer. It takes all of us working together to restore hope to those enslaved.

Does anyone else feel like I do?

REDLIGHT Outreach Trip

I’ve watched documentaries, I’ve read books and attended conferences, but nothing educated me more than this trip. You hear about it, but seeing first hand the reality of trafficking when I was in Pattaya… you just can’t even describe how sad it really is. Meeting and becoming friends with these woman wasn’t nearly as scary as I thought it was going to be. In fact, it was pure joy! I met Fha on the second day. She is out of the life and doing well and we’re even friends on Facebook!

REDLIGHT

REDLIGHT outreach is a program that takes you to Pattaya, Thailand for two weeks to help remove girls from the exploitation of human trafficking. You will not only learn more about the issue of sex slavery, but you will create relationships with girls and women trapped in the industry that will have a lasting, positive impact on their lives (and yours!) You will help Not Abandoned introduce these young women to the practical programs and services available to provide hope and a way out of this detrimental industry. You will work along side our Thai staff to make these vital connections to a new job and a new life. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a real difference and significantly impact a life that so desperately needs help.

Not Abandoned Field Intern

I am forever grateful to Not Abandoned for helping me get out of my comfort zone and embrace the reality of the hurt that is taking place around the world - eye opening is an understatement."

Intern

Travel overseas to one of Not Abandoned’s branches to observe, learn and participate as practical support to our staff on ground. Depending on your background and individual skill-set there are opportunities to work one-on-one with victims and potential victims of sex slavery in outreach to the brothels, statistical data gathering, and teaching or assisting with classes such as: English, Life Skills, Professional Skills, Baking, Computer, Art Therapy, etc.

Fund Freedom Events

I was thrilled to be able to share my passion about ending slavery with my friends and colleagues. I’m not about to travel right now overseas to help but I still wanted to do something. Seeing people join in with excitement, learning about an issue so close to my heart, and getting fired up with me was so cool! Not to mention the fact that we were able to raise money for Not Abandoned; what a blessing!”
Fund Freedom Events

Well, it’s no secret that it takes good resources to do good work. Would you consider hosting a Fund Freedom Event to benefit Not Abandoned’s work to restore freedom and hope to those trafficked? Fundraising doesn’t have to be awkward or boring! You come up with the event and we’ll work with you to supply any necessary resources like brochures, donor cards, videos, and tips for a successful event. Some successful events from past volunteers have included: intimate dinners, auctions, quilt and craft sales, t-shirt sales, concerts and bake sales. Be creative or stick to the classics, whatever suits your personality! This is a perfect way to share your passion about the cause and support this work with vital resources.

Share a Workshop

The memories of those women and our connection have never left me. I never realized how much teaching a simple skill like basic sewing would be an intimate encouragement to them, but it was. It was an encouragement to me too, to my faith, to know that my love can be practical!

Workshop

You have gifts to share! Travel overseas to a Not Abandoned branch and share a simple skill with the students in our program who are hungry to learn. Don’t worry, you don’t have to have a PhD in a particular subject to teach a workshop! Classes are taught at a beginner level. If we don’t already have curriculum on the particular subject that you’re interested in sharing, than we will assist you in creating lessons and materials. We also will provide cultural training to ensure your visit is a success both for you and our students. Some previous workshops have included: interviewing skills, setting up and using email, personal budgeting, small business plan creation, computer usage, jewelry making, sewing, baking, self defense and personal gifting assessments.

Become a NAAG!

NAAG

What? Yep, we want you to be a nag… a Not Abandoned Action Group, or NAAG for short. The idea is simple. We can’t do it alone, and neither can you. Start a group with your local church, school, book club, sports team, passion friends and start combining your efforts with a unified vision to see freedom restored. Set goals unique to your own NAAG; maybe it’s fundraising, maybe it’s education. Maybe your group’s goal is to journey together to a Not Abandoned base and participate in an outreach. Whatever you’re goals may be, make sure they’re packed with action! We’ll come alongside you with resources, tips and training to help platform you in your efforts to end slavery and restore freedom. Remember, when the issue is this important, it’s OK to be a NAAG about it!

Church Involvement

For us as a church it’s all about being practical making a difference in the lives of those who are oppressed and hopeless around the world! To connect our members to quality opportunities to serve and reach out in ways that have lasting impact, to those who today are trafficked. It’s all about sharing God’s love in a practical way, it blesses others and it builds our faith.

church involvement

If your currently involved with a local church help get Not Abandoned connected to your congregation. Be the one to stir others into action bringing awareness to the issue of trafficking. Be the bridge to introduce your church to opportunities to make a real difference. Perhaps you share an experience of having gone on a trip helping trafficked victims or perhaps you get involved for the first time along with others from your church. Not Abandoned would love to see a short-term team from your church go to a Not Abandoned base overseas and participate in an outreach or teach a workshop.

Business Involvement

Business Involvement

The most successful way to see a victim of human trafficking transition out of this oppressive life is by her/him having access to safe employment, moving not only them, but also their family from poverty to stability. The company you work for every day can make a significant difference in the cause of human trafficking. There are many different faces of what this involvement could look like. One way is to have your company adopt the cause and financially sponsor survivors who are ready to start their very own small business with the help of our staff. Another way to get behind the work of freedom is to offer your employees the opportunity to donate directly through the company to support the daily work of Not Abandoned. Consider also traveling to a Not Abandoned base, providing specific business and job training to survivors in our program who are eager and ready to enter the marketplace in new, healthy professional fields.
